Trix for dinner!

Posted by on February 24, 2011

Our stuff is here!  It was so fun to see my wonderful brother-in-law’s “Welcome 2 Thailand” note on one of our boxes (He practically packed all of them!)  Right on the dot (even a bit early) our container made its way to our home.  Wow…I was kind of overwhelmed, not from the stuff, but that with very little effort on our part, our stuff made it around the world and everything was there and in great shape.  Crazy…to think of where that container has been…

I got to thinking a lot about stuff…if you know me, I hate it, hate the hold it has on people (including me)…I shun at the thought of it filling something in my soul…but today, for maybe the first time, I began to think how stuff really can make you happy.  Don’t faint…what I mean is that it really is fun and happy to see all this stuff (for the most part)…it’s fun like a Christmas morning, but rarely do I keep it in that category:  happy.  I like to move it over to the column of things that satisfy me…that meet deep needs in my soul…stuff will never and can never do that.  The problem isn’t necessarily with stuff, it is with my wayward heart that likes to shift things where they don’t belong.  So, today…we are happy…and that’s all. 🙂

So, yes…Trix are for dinner…cuz we can!  🙂  Plus, the house is a wreck and everyone here is of cereal-making age!

Many of you have prayed and helped me think through what I should do regarding going to help with my friends Dan and Barb Evans.  Last night, I pulled the trigger and bought a ticket to go!

I was able to get a decent deal for being so late in the game… $1575, (props to my brother who found it and helped me search through the night!)…but in the end, it couldn’t be money that called the shots.  I will be traveling longer than I will actually be in Alaska..each way taking over 30 hours…but we are blessed to call many people there friends, and I cannot wait to go and be with the Evans and serve them.  Seeing dear, sweet and old friends will be icing on the cake!  So…please keep praying…Buddy will be in Cambodia until the 3rd of March and I will fly down that same night to Bangkok, spend the night there (which I have to do each way) and then begin my own journey and ministry…very different, but very thankful for what God has called us to do.

Gotta run…Trix are getting soggy and during this post I realized I should’ve paid more attention to Jack’s whining about his toe…I finally took a look at it and said, “Jack, I think you have a broken toe!!”  He was not amused!
