Cats 1, Baby Snakes 0

Posted by on March 1, 2011

Well, the cats seem to be paying off.  I don’t know what it was, but it was dead and we have Shadow to thank!  Adrianne came running in screaming that “Shadow killed a baby snake, Shadow killed a baby snake!”  I don’t exactly know what it was, it had the smallest little nub legs, and God got rid of those on snakes, so who knows…either way, it stunk to high heaven.  All you cat haters out there…stand down.

Buddy is in Cambodia…he took off on Sunday and has reported that the orphanage that Stop Slavery began in October is doing well…he has been on a “hemp-hunt” the last couple days trying to find the beginnings of a business  that can be used to sustain the ministry and work there.  Please pray!  Yesterday he struck out, but did find another Khmer word that might unlock some hemp suppliers.  He returns on Thursday at 3 pm and I leave at 5 pm, so we will do a kid swap and small family dinner at the airport before I take off on my journey to visit Barb in Alaska.  Pray that my time on the planes will give me rest (I know this is considered a miracle by some, but hey, I’m traveling without children and I can take Tylenol PM!) so that I can serve and bless my friend as she transitions to heaven.  I must confess, at times I’ve wondered, “what in the world am I doing, traveling to the other side of the world?”  Just yesterday, God reminded me of a phrase our campus pastor used to say, “Two things last forever:  people and the Word of God”.  So…diverting normal life to invest in my dear friend who really will be around forever, is just that…a different exit on the road of our earthly lives.

I have neglected to mention my busted head on this blog in case some of you aren’t on facebook and didn’t see the grimy details Buddy put up in real time…Here’s an updated version…got the stitches out today.

Also, something that never happened before but I act like I’m so used to it:  Last week when I got stopped for not having my license and making a wrong turn, I simply paid off the policeman…well, he told me it was a “fine” of $7 and went on my merry way.  Jack, our regular law abider, was aghast and had to be seriously talked down from the ledge.

Last but not least, our stuff has morphed from making me happy to seriously irritating me…(see, that’s how “stuff” rolls), but this picture below makes it look like we’re still happy!  Enjoy!
