Shorts, Resilient Scabies and One Less Mouse in T-land…

Posted by on May 26, 2011

Greetings friends!

We are in the midst of delightfully entertaining and hosting our friends and colleagues, the Shorts, as they transition from Cadence Student Ministries in Europe to Cadence Foreign Ministries…we are so blessed not only to call them teammates, but friends as well.  It was only a short (oh, I didn’t even notice the pun there…) time ago in 1999 that we were all in Candidacy beginning our time together serving the Lord through Cadence.  Wow…I guess what goes around, does come around!

God has blessed them with a whirlwind transition…thanks to Buddy’s extreme networking skills and our new friend Bronwen, it seems as those they already have found a house they can move into around the middle of June.  So, with that and cell phones, they pretty much are set up! 🙂

Regarding the mouse, when Buddy got back on Sunday, I told him that I thought we had another critter in the house…he was sure it was just a jumbo gecko, but I kept thinking that one of the intrinsic characteristics of lizards was their quiet and deft movements…this sounded like a pack of wolves in the ceiling.  After waking us up two days in a row at 5 am, we got a sticky trap and Buddy did some cranial damage with the end of a plunger.  What a way to go.

Regarding the Scabies….it seems they are back…I have re-slathered, but am feeling a bit less sure of my ability to eradicate them completely.  I really had put my best foot forward, so pray that I would learn to not complain, to be thankful, to be hopeful and all the stuff that we learn with “pesky” sicknesses.  Last night Melissa found out that while they were at the CSM Conference, her roommate had lice, so Buddy so kindly “checked” Melissa’s hair last night.  I told him there was no way I was going to risk getting scabies AND lice!  Agh!

(It’s so fun to watch Buddy do “detail” things…after a cursory minute, he announced with the confidence that oozes out of him that she was “good to go!”)

On a ministry note, Sareth is still in prison and the situation remains unchanged…please keep praying…we are so encouraged to have people here who are walking on this particular road that Cadence has begun and to facilitate more ministry projects for people wanting to make a Jesus imprint on people here in Southeast Asia.

We are blessed to be here and even more so to call you who read this, our friends.  We love you.
