Sareth is Free!

Posted by on June 4, 2011

Dear friends….

Wanted to get this update especially to you who pray…Sareth was released from jail yesterday and has been reunited with his family!  Our colleague has spoken with him and has heard him express the things God taught him while he was falsely accused…imprisoned severely for what people thought might be true. While none of us have been imprisoned for this, just reflecting on false accusations and the gut wrenching pain of peoples misperceptions sends a chill up my spine.  Please pray for his heart to learn, trust and grow from this in the ways God has for him.

Because of this turmoil in the area where Cadence normally works, Buddy (and colleague Rich) just took a quick three day trip to Cambodia to set up a missions trip for students coming from Okinawa in just 16 days!  Yikes, it feels like June just punched us in the face!  Some people have asked why we don’t just live in Cambodia, (that’s a blog for another day), but this month, Buddy will be in Cambodia for almost half the month!

The trip got pretty well set up…it’s not like there’s nothing to do in a third-world country…again, though, we feel the tension of simply coming in and giving out material things, while surreptitiously stealing from their spiritual state of contentment…to take that away would be the worst thing we can do.  Contentment is elusive to most Westerners (myself included), so please pray that the efforts we put forth at the Orphanage will ease their burden without blunting their spiritual state.  There will be lots of orphan kids loved on and blessed…the group that is coming is FANTASTIC…Cambodia will never be the same (yes, we are completely biased!) 🙂

Behind Jack is the "kitchen", so it won't be too difficult to make some improvements!

Celebrate that Sareth is free!  Thank God that we are free too!

Love you guys – Jen
