The Lock-In
44 Jr. Higher's and 3 Adults that were there the whole night.  What in the world were we thinking?  There were parts of the night that we fun but I felt like much of it was baby-sitting and trying to keep kids from getting into trouble.  Next time I will make sure the staff to student ratio is much higher.  We really do have a lot of great kids but I learned it only takes about 5 to turn into a real handful.  Below is  group shot from early in the evening.

On the right are 3 of our skaters Jerod, Jeremy and Bryson or "Skippy" as he likes to be called.  I can relate to people that like to be called by a nickname so I have changed his name in the Youth Database.  All of the skaters like to jump off the stairs in front of the chapel and try and land on their skate boards.  Most of the time they land on their hands or face which seems to be just fine with them.  From 12 until 2 we were at the gym for free time and some games.  One of the great things about working on a military base is you have the use of facilities like a 3 court gym for free and buses to transport all the kids.

In the middle of the night we played glow in the dark bowling.  Our camera had a flash on it but I turned it off for the first picture so that you could get the full effect of being in the dark.  Everything white was glowing blue under the blue lights.  Imagine that.  The thing that I have always enjoyed most about blue lights is that you can see where laundry detergent has been poured directly onto jeans when you are under a blue light.  Next time you are under a blue light look at the white spots on your blue jeans.  On the right is Charlie pretending that he just hit a strike when in reality you can see two pins still standing in the background.

Ashley and Kari are two of our faithful students.  Kari, on the right, accepted Christ in the fall and has just recently decided that she needs to be living for Christ all out instead of just floating along.  She makes the Kool-Aid for our Bible Study on Wednesday's but it is so potent that it is almost thick.  For some reason most of the Jr. Higher's prefer her Kool-Aid over the normal kind that can actually be drunk by anyone over the age of 18.  By the end of the night about a third of the student's s were sleeping while the rest where throwing popcorn and playing video games.  Someone once said that nothing spiritual occurs after 2 AM.  I think I believe them.  I thought that we had cleaned up all the mess after the student's left at 7 AM but it turned out that someone had dumped half a bag of popcorn in a locked in box.  It ruined one document but the chapel staff is pretty understanding and the guy that told me about it was smiling when he told me that they had to replace a document.
